Most Useful Chemicals In Tire Manufacturing

Sulfur
Sulfur is the main ingredient in tire production. Its use is in the vulcanization of rubber, which makes the tires both hard and heat-resistant. Most types of tires are made using sulfur. There is an exception when a certain type of tire and rubber is required.

Carbon Black
Some tires contain up to 30% soot. Carbon black is the purest form of carbon that is used in powder form in tire and rubber manufacture. It also makes the tire stronger by acting as an amplifier. It helps to protect tires and rubber from UV rays and from erosion caused by friction on the road.

Synthetic Rubber
Not all tires are made from natural rubber. Styrene-butadiene rubber is used extensively in the tire and rubber manufacturing industries. Synthetic rubber is purer and cheaper. Many types of synthetic rubbers are used in the manufacture of tires. The exact formulation will depend on the need or use of the rubber or tire.

Silica
Silica helps reduce the drag that occurs when the tire rolls off. Less friction means longer tire life. In addition, it helps in two ways, being inexpensive because you don't have to replace tires for a long time. In addition, it helps to increase fuel consumption as less drag means less force is required to move the vehicle. Bis (triethoxysilylpropyl)  tetra sulfide is also used in conjunction with silica to create the silica bond to the rubber.
